The Northeastern Strength & Conditioning department is excited to announce our continued involvement with club athletics. We are also very excited about the evolving participation and interest by Northeastern student athletes, as it has allowed us to expand and grow our services to better serve all of you.
Traditionally in the past, Northeastern Strength and Conditioning has offered “open” lifting times to all willing club athletes in one of our varsity weight rooms with Strength and Conditioning coach present to instruct the athletes. Every club athlete was afforded one training session a week for the duration of the semester. Training times were set and we filled each training time as requests were received on a first come, first serve basis. We also offered all club programs the opportunity to sign up and pay for additional team training times. Teams paid a one time, up-front fee and then scheduled two additional training times in one of the varsity weight rooms, with Strength and Conditioning coach present.
Beginning Fall semester of 2014 all club athletes will have the ability to participate in one of three options:
Option 1 (Service A - Open Club Lift):This option is free to any club student athletes, as it is already provided to you by Club sports. This service is offered for 10 weeks over the course of each semester. The first week of services will include a Functional Movement Screen (FMS). The FMS process allows our department to better define the needs of each athlete and address any potential high risk athletes. The following 8 weeks will have the club student athlete come in once a week, for a one hour training session with one of our Strength and Conditioning coaches. During this time, the club student athlete will receive an 8 week, 2 days a week training program. This allows the club student athlete to train once with the supervision of a coach, and once on their own. The final week will culminate with another FMS test to show improvement over baseline scores, and again, highlight any possible needs.
Open training times will be released at the beginning of the semester to all club student athletes where you will then have the opportunity to sign-up on-line through the Northeastern website. Sign-ups are strictly based on a first come, first serve basis. Spots are limited.
Option 1 Services: - Functional Movement Screen – pre and post training - 8 - one hour training sessions in facility - 8 weeks, 2 days a week training program – programs include warm-up, movement, strength and conditioning Option 2 (Service B - Team Testing):The services provided to every club student athlete include comprehensive athlete testing along with an 8 week, 3 day training program. Testing will include a Functional Movement Screen, Keiser Squat Power Profile, Vertical and Broad Jump, 10-20-40 yard electronic timing and a beep test. Club student athletes and teams will be provided all results. Each club student athlete will then receive an 8 week, 3 days per week training program that encompasses all aspects of movement training, strength training, and conditioning. Once the 8 week training program is concluded each club student athlete will again retest and will receive a pre and post training report.

Each team will have scheduled three training sessions a week in accordance with weight room availability and strength coach availability.
